Chico and Pippin update - not that good

About a month ago, I took the birds along with me on vacation... 1200 miles each way to North Carolina. We rented a large beach house for a week and the birds enjoyed the extra flying space. They seemed to do great on the trip and got to be out of their carrier during most of the car ride (we made window screens so we could have windows open).

Chico goes outside

I've been trying to get Chico my GCC outdoors more. Usually I put him in his little aviary or take him out loose just after he's bathed (he's normally a good flier but drops like a stone after a bath). Today, I had him in his aviary for awhile and it was a nice pleasant day and he was relaxed and happy as I was petting him through the little food door. So I decided to take him out.

Chico the brat

It's been well over a year since Chico the GCC was clipped; not only is he flying well, but he's flying better and with more confidence than he ever has in his life.
He is such a wonderful, fun, spoiled little brat! He loves the kitchen, making cooking and washing dishes FUN (he is not allowed in the kitchen when there are any uncovered dishes cooking on the stove, due to his intense curiosity about anything remotely foodlike). But otherwise, he usually whenever someone's in the kitchen, that's where he is to be found). I can turn on the water, and there he is on the faucet. Turn to open the flour jar and instantly there he is perched on the jar looking up at me. Sometimes I swear he can read my mind.
