Ijust picked up my first lovebird about o I dont kno a few weeks ago, hes 12 weeks old and is a Dutch Blue.

I was wondering when will her clipped wings be fully grown again and has anyonr flight trained a lovebird, are they as smart as bigger parrots?

ARe you Kidding???!!! I love Lovebirds!!!! and yes they can be a GREAT Pet!!!!. and Companion bird as well. some even can squeak out a "pretty bird" I had over 30 lovebirds, when we bred them in michigan, A lady have given me 12 , cause they were "wild and mean"
With in 2 month I had them eating out of my hand, and flying to my shoulder and arms. As long as they were not on babies.
As for the flight feathers , yes they will grow back in when she/he moults.Enjoy your new pet, your in for a ride!!!

Yes they can be trained... Look at Lisa's journal, she actually lets her lovebird fly outside. http://www.featherforum.com/?q=blog/112 She has some pictures too.

I wouldn't recommend outdoor flight to anyone who is new at training, but since you asked, yes they do have lots of potential. :-)

Bot they sure come in a lot of colors now'a days
