Oscar now has two pair of my old pants!
Yes, indeed.
They are hanging in his cage next to his sleeping perch.
These pants were cut up and made for toys and such.
Jeans and dress pants are great for this.
They each are cut so that there are 1/2 inch strips that flap away from the inseam, leaving a 1/2 inch at the inseam uncut.
Once that is completed, fold in half and then hang.
I even use the zipper in another toy, and cut the waist band with the loops and button intact and that too was another toy.
I will post photos of these.
Oscar ejoys chewing on each lightly, then also lean into one, or lean back into the other one.
He seems to like them around his perch and he seems to like to cuddle up in there at night time, or "nite-nite".
He does like affection from them and it seems to do a good job for him. His chewing does not destroy these.
Perhaps it is because I made them?
He seems to only destroy toys that are purchased.
Right now he prefers an acrylic loop toy over wood. He will naw and chew on that toy for hours, hours, whenever he wants he will go do that again.
There can be pieces of wood for him to chew and he does not go for them at all. Amazing to me.
It certainly makes for a cleaner cage.
Oscar's cage is pretty clean most of the time anyway.
There is a water dish and two bowls of food, wet/dry.
But he does not eat there very much only snacks at midnight or maybe during the day.
Usually during the day he gets out of the cage early and then goes up onto the playstand where there are two bowls of food, fruits / veggies, maybe corncobb. later macaw mix.
Since he eats mostly outside of his cage, it is very clean most of the time.
Oscar does not toilet in his cage. He waits until morning and then goes out on his playstand...at the "most furthest point" away from his cage.
