Tangent's blue is coming in quicker than I thought it would. He still has a long ways to go, but the on either side of his beak he's got more blue than he had just a few weeks ago. From the front he looks like... well, like a blue-headed pionus.

He's eating more solid food but still hasn't really made the switch from formula. I've gotten in the habit of feeding Phoebe first when I get home, in hopes that seeing her eat will motivate him more, and it seems to be helping. He'll eat more than he used to, but he won't really fill up on 'real' food. I usually wait 10-15 minutes after he stops eating solid food before I mix up the formula, but when I do, he's always very enthusiastic about it.

He's getting better at flying around corners or up stairs to find me when I call, but we still have a ways to go. If he can see me he's much quicker to come; if he can only hear me, it takes him a while to take the leap.

I almost quit using the clicker for a while because it wasn't necessary for teaching fly-to-me, but I've been doing more clicker training with Tangent over the last few days. He'll come running (or flying) to beak the target stick, and he's making some progress with putting a plastic triangle into my hand. He doesn't seem to be learning the retrieve as quickly as Phoebe did, which surprises me. He'll pick up the triangle and drop it into my hand two or three times in a row, then he'll walk right past it and look at me like he doesn't know what to do next. I'm sure it will just take more repetition though.

Also, I have a hummingbird in my back yard. I thought that they all flew south for the winter, but it turns out that there's a species - Anna's hummingbird - that lives here year-round. My girlfriend put up a feeder and the hummer found it within a day or two.
