There's someone who posts here sometimes who has a moustached parakeet. I don't know much about them myself, but ringneck parakeets in general are supposed to be rather independant and not very cuddly - but very elegant and sometimes fairly good talkers.
Conures tend to be more cuddly birds and may demand more attention. Sun conures will usually make really good pets except they are very loud. They aren't as loud as some of the larger parrots, but they're very loud for their size - not good birds if you live in an apartment or have very close neighbors who might complain.

I'm here now......Moustache parrots - are they loud? Well I guess it depends on how deaf you are! :o
I was told the same thing by Hoot's breeder, I say she lied. Hoot would have to be one of the noisiest birds I have. She does have a sense of humour about it though and she knows she's really annoying which keeps her hugely amused. There are photos here of her and if you read my journal you'll find out a bit about her. (the journal is is Parrotdragon's name. I had to change my name awhile ago)

Hoot loves attention and is cuddly to a point but I think that has more to do with the way that I bought her up. She's not greatly taken with other birds and can be rather a 'bully' when she has the upper hand eg when she's on top of someone elses cage. When the playing field is level and she is out with others she is more aloof and tries to ignore them. I think she's scared of 'pay back'! LOL

I do know of a number of these birds that have been too noisy and have had to be rehomed into aviary situations. Hoot no longer lives in the house as my partner can't stand the noise. She lives with most of my other birds in a purpose built bird room seperate from our house.

I hate to say this, but sun conures also tend to be quite loud, so I would be very suspicious of that breeder's information about noise levels. I really wanted a sun conure at first but the noise changed my mind. That whole genus of conures (aratinga) is generally very loud. There are exceptions, but the tendency is to be pretty loud pretty often.
