Haven't posted in awhile because i've moved to a new flat. Zazu now has a whole room to himself, Pongo and Chico share another, and Mouse gets to be cage-free in a huge bathroom. Hardwood floors and the two bird rooms face south with large windows and lots of light. Everyone seems to be settling in happily.

Zazu's room has a small balcony which i would like to cage so he can play out there. Access is through the window, which slides open to one side. Ideally i would like to give him access to the balcony by leaving the window open so he can go out or come in as he likes.

Does anyone know what type/gauge wire would work for a macaw? He is a very proficient chewer/flying buzzsaw, so suggestions about wood for the frame and ways to attach it to the (older, wooden, Victorian-type)house would be greatly appreciated.

There is an aviary group on yahoo, good place to ask the ?

As I remember from a breeder in CO he used 2x2 or 2x3 mesh. You can get stainless mesh fairly resonable compared to a stainless cage.

Or get galvanized and spray it heavely with vinegar then rinse.
