I purchased a 5 year old male goffin Cocktoo On Sunday,When I got him the Breeder told me that he had just been returned because of attacking his old Owners husband, but once I got him home & got him settled he would only go to my husband he'll let me pet him but if Daddy's in the room he's on Daddy's shoulder , does this mean that he's now my husbands buddy or will he include me in the family??? This is my first cockatoo ,I have Cocktiels & parakeets

Welcome to FF Victoria.

I have a male GSC that is OK with all the family, but will always go to my wife if she is in the room. However, Bebe can be a little naughty with her, and I have to get him.

Years ago my Mother had a female GSC and it would attack my first wife. Cockatoos can become very protective, and have a powerful beak. Try to keep your attention equal, or one will become more of a favourite

Ok Charlie is behaving better now he plays with both my HusBAND & I ,but now he's crawling on my hand holding my hand down with his talons & rubbing his lower body on my hand ,isn't that a little bit weird or is it just part of who Charlie is or is he getting frisky and what can i do about it????

Charlie is frisky! If this continues, he may become very protective.

As for taming harley, it is going to be a lot of hard work. Try to move very slow, not expecting too much from him at first. Is he more scared or bossy? I am thinking of getting another cockatoo, is there any advise you have on having more than one? It has been since child hood that I have had multiple birds around. My dad used to breed birds, but pet birds are quite different.

Hi, somewhere I saw or read an article on birds (especially
Cockatoos") rubbing themselves in particular under the wings
towards the back is a form of masterbation. I'm not being
nasty, it was on You Tube, or Bird Talk, or somewhere, but I
swear I saw it. I can try to find it again if you'd like. Jeanie
