Hey,

My cockatiel Achilles, a lutino, won't take a bath, get misted, anything! He is only about 5 months old. I also want to feed him his vegetables and fruits, but he won't eat them. Otherwise, he a perfectly good, sweet bird and very curious. I need advice on different ways to give him a bath or get him clean and on how to make him eat this veggies. Thanks!

my tiel wouldnt take a batth or eat his vegies either, have you tryed a damp washcloth, and if you find out how to get your tiel to eat its vegies im all ears.

I just got my tiel and he won't really eat the veggies and fruit that i leave in the bowl, but he'll nibble a little if I hold it up. I also found out that while he won't eat the leafy part of the spinach, he will eat the stem part. I also read somewhere that you could try cooking the veggies.

Cooking the vegies is only necessary for harder things (like carrot, etc) and it only SHOULD be cooked lightly so it softens the food a little bit, only, i've been told by my avian that tiels dont naturally take to vegies (and fruit is more of a treat) because they are DRY inland birds and are programmed to feed on the dry (fat free) seeds.
The vitamins and minerals that would be missing from their diet should be taken up in a powder to mix in with their water, which you can buy from any pet store. So really your lucky if he even nibbles at it :)
Hope that helps a little
