I have a small cage that I use to take my lovebird outside occasionally for an hour or so. Is there any harm in this? He seems to enjoy it and there is a wild lovebird population in the area (Scottsdale, AZ) so I know the weather is ok. I just wonder if psychologically it is ok. He seems fine but I don't want him to be bummed out that he is not "free" :(

She'll be fine outside. Just keep an eye out that there are no predators around watching her. Make sure she has access to both sun & shade, water is in shade. Being outside is good for them.

Being outside is good for him; just 15-20 minutes a day of natural sunlight will be beneficial. The main things to worry about overheating, escaping, or predators. I would make sure all the cage doors are securely shut and not leave him out unsupervised unless he's in a very secure location and has shade available. Hawks have been known to swoop down on caged birds.

That sounds like a fine idea, but I would recommend keeping the cage on a porch or other roofed area, so that he can enjoy the sun without getting overheated or attacked by a raptor.
