Hi, I'm new too- just joined today
I have 3 beautiful babies- Molly & Jack (2 handsome cockatiels, 1 Pied and one Grey)
And i have recently acquired a new addition (Connie) She is a Sun Conure.
My babies are very special to me and i hope to increase my family size in the not too distant future (but for now it's an active household so 3 will do).
I've never owned anything bigger than a cockatiel before so i'm probably going to need some advice on raising a happy and healthy parrot-
but for now the introduction will do :)
Thanks all

I don't know how big your aviary is, but zebras can reproduce very quickly and fill up an aviary.
Finches and canaries are hardbills. Parrot family birds are often called hookbills. Softbills refers to birds that eat a soft (fruit-based diet) - Pekin robins, mynahs, toucans, mousebirds, hornbills, touracos ect. I do often see finches called softbills, but that's wrong. I'm not sure if you mean you are looking for other finches or if you are really looking for softbills. Softbills tend to be more expensive and harder to find. Pekin robins mix well with finches but need plenty of space. Mousebirds might work well too. Most larger softbills like toucans WILL eat meat including finch nestlings if they find them.

I'm glad you said that Karen. When I read the part about Finches and softbills I thought "That's not right" but I wasn't 100% sure. I'm not real big into smaller birds. I've actually heard that Toucan's will also eat full grown Finches BTW.

Hi, brand new myself. Have previously owned Zeb, a baby rainbow lorikeet found beaten up in a paddock (now happily living with many other rainbow lorikeets owned by a wildlife carer); Bubble and Melony, two cute little cockatiels (breeding happily in a big aviary owned by a friend's mother); and Barbara (RIP)- the sweetest, funniest little Alexandrine parrot I've ever known.
I hope to learn more and more about our feathered friends until I can bring myself to have another one to love.

Im also new .. and a new owner to a beautiful but agressive sun conure called Lister. My main concern is training him to stop biting!
