Hi everyone!

I am searching for someone who can help me, my male cockatiel needs a new home. since going to university he has been very lonely, although my family are looking after my cockatiel very well since I’ve been at university, the problem is that during the day he is quite alone. I am thinking the best thing to do is to give him away. This is going to be the hardest thing for me to do, but I have no choice I want him to be happy and for that I will have to give him to a home where he can enjoy his life. Does anyone know where and to whom I can give him to? Is there anyone looking for a beautiful, male cockatiel? Please can anyone suggest a really good place for a cockatiel, either a home or even a good aviary? Oh by the way we call him Babey, and he is adorable

If he's tame and your family is enjoying him and giving him plenty of attention when they are home, then I think he should be ok. If they can visit with him and maybe give a treat in the morning and then have him out for a few hours in the evening - that is all that is really necessary. More attention is better, but he can be ok with this. You can leave a radio on softly to help him feel more comfortable when alone. Also, toys are important of course. Toys with beads or bells or soft wood like balsa for him to chew are good.

If you woyld want to find him a new home, you should try to find a rescue in your area - they may take him or help you adopt him out. Many rescues have lots of cockatiels waiting for adoption, though.

This is a partial listing of some rescues.

Hi Karen,

Thank you so much for your reply; you have made me feel much better about the situation. I will definitely try my best to keep him happy, and the rescue centre will surely be my last resort.

Best regards
