Hello, i was hoping that someone here might be able to help. yesterday i went to a rather large avairy with loads of parrots etc. i saw a few jenday conures, most acting normally, but one caught me eye. his feathers on his front looked all wet, whether he'd just had a bath i dont know, he was leaning over on his front rather than sitting up straight and was rocking back and forth. he kept one wing down resting on the perch and kept flapping the other one in the air whilst screeching. i put my finger to the cage and moved it back and forth and it seemed like he was struggling to follow it, although he could see it.

has anyone encountered this before or know what it is? i have several birds myself and have not seen this and it says nothing on the internet. i am going to go and get him to give him a good home but can anyone shed some light on this?? thanks

The behavior sounds like it MIGHT be a very hungry baby. Babies don't perch like adults, and can make a repetitive call and flick their wings when begging to be fed. It could be that what you saw was a group of siblings and he was the youngest one and just begging to be fed. Babies that have been weaned but then become sick or stressed can also revert back to begging for food and needing to be handfed awhile longer.

My husband bought me a Jendaya Conure for Christmas. He is a love but all of the sudden he has started being very aggressive towards him, is there anything I have done to cause this and can I correct it. I have had him for two weeks as of 12/21. Also I have been reading and I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is one pellet diet that is better than another. All I really know about my new baby is that he/she is 16 months old. All the information I can get is very helpful and apprecitated.\

i have never experienced this personally either however i think that that bird needs to see a vet and be checked out. it sounds as if this bird is not happy in his/cer current situation. You are right in saying it isn't normal for the bird to be performing these actions. if i were you i would either recomend the bird see a vet to the pet shop or get the bird and take him to a vet myself. good luck in figuring out what to do -allmylove-

I have a jenday and sun. Jendays are less group social than suns. The vet visit is a good idea, "When in doubt have the vet check them out" has been a good motto for me. Let your husband try to interact without you around. If you are his person he may be protective of you. My daughters boyfriend litterally gets attacked by my sun when she is in the room, but can handle the bird when she's not.
