I have a Goffin too. She is 2yrs old . I just bought her and she does have bite issues. Is clicker training a good way to go to correct this behavior? This is not my first bird but is my first too. I watch her body language and so don't get bit often but she tries often. It does seem to have alot to do with step up. Should I perhaps start with a dowel rod in cage step up?

ok an update on the too. Well she got the all clear from the vet. Her cage is a little small but I am getting her a new one. The people I got her from said she was 10 wks old when they got her and was fully weaned? I am not sure about that . The first day she made no noise at all which worried me a bit. She is very bitey. I have noticed she will turn her back to me most of the time. I do not know if this is just being anti-social or a leave me alone please cue. They told me she hated the playstand they gave me with her but I have had her on it from day one and she will fly from her cage to play on it. Right know she is almost fully flighted as her feathers are all but in were she was trimmed last and since she seems to want to stand on our head or shoulder which allowed her to give me a nasty piercing on the ear tonight. I am considering clipping them but had planned to leave her flighted due to the dogs. I added some rope to her playstand which she now hangs from like a bat most of the day (when she isn't trying to chomp my ears or fingers off that is) I also added a perch from her cage and some toys and a swing. I bought her a wood block with nuts wedged in it and she loves that as well. I am feeding her pellets but also have given her scrambled egg with crushed eggshell, green beans, corn, mashed and baked potatoes, carrots, corn, whole wheat bread, pasta, papaya, yogurt, plain popcorn, whole wheat crackers with peanut butter, raisins, plain oatmeal, oranges( which she threw to the dogs) and apples (w/o the seeds. She comes out of her cage at about 8:00 am and stays out until 10:30 pm unless she flies back in the cage herself. She likes to be covered at night where my cockatiel do not(although the person that had the tiels keep them covered all the time) I am trying to figure out why she bites for blood so much but so far I have drawn a blank. It could be because of the small cage she is in? I also think she may have been forced to do too many step ups since she really doesn't like those at all. She does not want you to put your hand against her belly so seems to do better when allowed to walk a step or so to get on your hand. But she still will try to bite hard most times. That is were keeping her flighted comes in since i could ask her to fly to my hand to avoid step ups as an alternative, but if I trim her that won't work. So far she is not a screamer and to prevent that we ignore her if she squalks in her cage and only pay attention to her when she is calm and quiet. I bought a clicker today, well four of them so I don't lose one and have to go without since I am good for that.
GOSH MY EAR HURTS!!!! :(
I hope to correct the biting issues because cuddling is impossible and I think she wants to. She is impossibly cute and her personality is amazing. I am glad I did not get a large breed cockatoo because her bites are bad enough. I like the large breed looks better but think the smaller goffin is definitely a better fit for my family. If anyone can give ideas as to why she feels the need to bite( new environment, pecking order, dominance issues, etc) I would definitely apprieciate it since if this is the honeymoon period , that means when its over she will be a terror for sure.

Please keep me informed on your Goffin biting issues. We also have a Goffin, and she has recently taken to biting me VERY hard (although loves my husband and will still cuddle with him). We have tried all sorts of behavioral and training tricks, but nothing seems to work. I would love to find out a way to get her to stop biting because I miss cuddling with her!
