Anyone visiting Florida or living here is invited to attend a free presentation about one macaw's able to voluntarily communicate through English-language speech. The Power Point presentation will be at the Largo, Florida Library (zip 33771) at 6:30 p.m on Monday, 24 March 2008.
I will discuss evidence that indicates that Arielle, a blue-and-gold macaw has learned human language. Recorded examples from her free speech will be part of the presentation. Her statements provide a basis to infer that she thinks about things using English and that she is a conscious being.
