I'm a new member here, and I have a bit of a problem.
My father was an avid bird lover. He bought several birds in his lifetime. He passed away last week, and we have a couple of birds that my grandmother, who he lived with, insists must go.
First, we have a little Quaker parrot named Rikki. He's about five years old, quite the little chatterbox, but very shy and mean towards people he doesn't know. He's used to a lot of time out of the cage, though, and when I moved away, my brother never got him out to spend any time with him, so he started plucking his feathers. He's not too bad, just... he needs more care and attention than my grandmother and brother are willing to give him. His cage is in bad shape, I will admit. I'm the oldest child of my father's, and I haven't lived in Texas for about a year, and so the cages have fallen to quite a sad state.
There's also a Dusky headed conure named Sammi, also four or five years old. She isn't mean, but she's very shy. Once she gets to know you, she's the sweetest thing in the world. Her cage is just dirty and needs a good scrubbing.
Both cages could probably be salvaged if given a good scrub. My younger brother and grandmother live southeast of Houston, in a town called Pasadena. We've already found a home for one of the African Greys, and my gran says that the other one and the three tiels can stay. So, we have a conure and a quaker up for adoption.
I'll be leaving, flying back home to Missouri this coming weekend, but I'm going to keep in touch with my family, at least to try and find good homes for these birds. If anyone is interested, please reply here or send me a private message, or... I'm not quite sure.
Thanks for your time.
