I have a sun conure (who we thought was a male) who is 4 years old and started laying egss. I call my vet who is not a bird vet and he told me to keep them in the cage with her for a month and then we could get rid of them. We set up a little nest for her and she was a good mom-to-be but, of course, it changed her personality and she became very protective of them. After the month, we got rid of the eggs and cleaned her cage from top to bottom and she was her normal self. This was 3 weeks ago. This morning she laid another egg.

We wouldn't mind getting a male to have them fertilized but really know very little about this type of stuff other than it will be time consuming. I currently work full time and go to school full time. Of course, we give her lots of attention but do not have the time to dedicate to introducing her to a new bird and don't want her hurt and wouldn't have a clue what to do to help her with new babies.

Is there something we should be doing to get her to stop laying eggs? I have tried new things like bringing into a new room that is much more sunny without exposing her to the direct sun light - she loved it and only left the eggs while she was in that room. We just love her right to pieces and her personality is so very friendly. She lets strangers pick her up and everything. She is awesome. Obviously, after having such a wonderful bird (she takes showers with us and LOVES that) it is very difficult trying to help her through this experience and I felt terrible when I took the eggs away the last time and she had worked so hard to be a good mom, but she did really well afterwards.

Does anyone have any advice at all as to how to get her to stop laying eggs? HELP!!!
