Hello, I work at a bird store where we have about 7 macaws and while changing water and food, one of the birds bit the tip off of the finger of another macaw, so without the nail, she was bleeding everywhere and the owner said he was going to cauterize (burn to stop bleeding) the finger with a soddering iron.

So, first i want to know if that is safe because it sounded bad to use a soddering iron, and secondly he called a co worker of mine and said that she might die, is it common for a bird to die like that? i feel so bad because it's partially my fault for having the cages close together when i was doing the usual chores.

If anyone has had the same experience i'd like to know what happened. later today when i go in I'm gonna see how she's doing, what should i look for?
