Hi, new to the forums. I have a 2 year old cockatiel called Arnie and I am not sure if he/she is a male or female. he/she backs into the corner of the cage with its tail up and makes a high pitched squeaking noise. At first i thought it was going to lay an egg but this has been going on for about a year and a half and hasnt layed any eggs. Could anyone help?
Thanks

A thorough description of your cockatiels colouring would help since both male & female can do what you have explained. I have a male who does exactly what you have described. He loves to play the 'nesties' when he's quite hormonal. Even better still a photo will help.

Not all mutations can be visually sexed but some can. The way they act also isn't an accurate way of knowing the sex.
