Chuckie is on the left; Miracle is on the right. Miracle came to me from the same home as Maxwell, last August, and is a sweetheart. She and Chuckie are in side-by-side cages. I know that Miracle is a hen, and the blood has been submitted for a DNA on Chuckie. If he turns out to be a girl, these two will be sharing a new big cage. They absolutely hate to be apart.

I think this is such a sweet picture.

I read some of your journal entries and could'nt find any results from the DNA test on Chuckie.
So, is he a boy or a girl??? Do they now share a cage?

If I may ask one more question (I'm sorry, I'm very curious)...
Did your Pionus pair ever produce babies?

Hi Barb, yes Chuckie turned out to be a boy...so I didn't cage them together. They were very close, though, and spent all their time together out of their cages (and stayed as close as they could get in their adjacent cages) until Chuckie's death in December. Miracle had a very hard time with losing him, and has bonded strongly to my husband now.

My pi's have had 2 clear clutches, and because they don't act like a bonded pair exactly, I've not put the nest box back up since. I don't think I will try again unless they seem to act like they want to. Right now, they spend all their time on opposite corners of the cage, and stay pretty much away from each other - not acting at all like a bonded pair.

You can ask all the questions you want, if anything was private I wouldn't have mentioned it here at all :)...I appreciate your interest!

I'm so sorry about Chuckie :( and sad for Miracle. It breaks my heart that we can't explain things to our little friends, to comfort them with a loss.
It's good to hear that she's now bonded with your husband.

Do you have 3 Pionusssss (how the heck do you say it)?
Chloe is beautiful - is she the same kind as your "not bonded" pair?

I'm learning alot about different parrots from this group and I really enjoy this. I love looking at all the great pictures :)

Someday I hope to get a picture of Buddy flying like your Elliot(k).

So far the only distance he'll fly is when I'm down the hall (out of sight) at the front door talking to someone. He has to come and see who's there with me :) protect his mate.

LOL, yes, I have 3 pionus :). Phoebe and Joey are the BWs and Chloe is the WC. Chloe is a great companion, and so is Phoebe who wants to be with us MUCH more than she wants to be with Joey...and Joey wants to keep her away from us and doesn't come out of thier cage willingly...but once he's out he'll sit quietly on a shoulder or in front of a window until we open the bird room back up, then he flies back to his cage.

I'd love to see a picture of your Buddy flying! It's cute that he'll fly to be with you, maybe you could keep hiding at opposite ends of the house to give him exercise - lol!
