Phoebe is my 6 year old bronze-wing pionus. I have to admit that her colors aren't QUITE as brilliant as they appear in that photo, but that's how they came out of the camera and I wasn't about to tone them down. :-) She's got her wings out because the photo was taken while she was enjoying spray from the shower.

She is basically everything I was told to expect from a pionus - mostly quiet, but with a rare shriek that rivals an M2 or U2; mostly very friendly but occasionally acts like a rabid pit-bull; hardly ever chews on furniture but loves a wad of paper or cardboard once in a while; mostly just likes to hang out in the same room with me, and does't demand constant attention like my cockatoo.

What are your birds like?

Pilot,BHP, is everything I've heard BHP to be. He also isn't into furniture destruction. He gets on well with both myself and my mother. He is shy at times with new things, but a little affection sooths that right away. He very rarely shrieks, and when he does he sounds like an Amazon--but he used to live with some. He has his moods, usually good, but occassionally grumpy. He doesn't demand the kind of attention a M2 or U2 would, but is affectionate.

He likes to play with us. He also likes to entertain himself with his toys. He doesn't get loud even when our neighbors Cockatiel starts screaming. He does alert us when Seaguls, Crows, or Piegon flocks fly passed the window by clucking like a chicken. He has a sense of humor, and even laughs sometimes at the right time when someone says something funny.

Basically, he everything advertised in these birds. The three words you find over and over again are: Gentle, Shy, and Quiet.
