Phoebe is my 6 year old bronze-wing pionus. I have to admit that her colors aren't QUITE as brilliant as they appear in that photo, but that's how they came out of the camera and I wasn't about to tone them down. :-) She's got her wings out because the photo was taken while she was enjoying spray from the shower.

She is basically everything I was told to expect from a pionus - mostly quiet, but with a rare shriek that rivals an M2 or U2; mostly very friendly but occasionally acts like a rabid pit-bull; hardly ever chews on furniture but loves a wad of paper or cardboard once in a while; mostly just likes to hang out in the same room with me, and does't demand constant attention like my cockatoo.

What are your birds like?

Hi Nate! I found my way over from the CageFree group and your signature. Phoebe is beautiful! I love the way their colors glow and shimmer when they are wet.
I have read about the Seattle fly group before and it has always peaked my interest and makes me want to try something like that in my area.
First I just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know I signed up and I will try to post a little more later today. Gotta run and get ready for work right now :(

The water sure brings out her gorgeous colors, doesn't it! My first thought when I saw this was, "I could design a room around those colors!" :)

I don't know how some folks could consider pionus parrots "dull" :)

my friend has a bronze wing hen, it does look a bit dull inside, there's no bright yellow like so many macaws and amazones, but in the sun it is very pretty, like in the picture nate posted.
