Hi, Nate has some great articles on this site on how to teach recall, I just can't seem to find them at present but keep checking back as I know Nate will point you in the right direction. As you have taught your bird tricks, he knows how to learn, I believe that teaching recall should be quite easy for you to work on

Also, check out Mouse's journal. Lisa has been working with Mouse for a few months now and he's doing really well. :)

First of all, let me just say that while I think you have a VERY good chance of having a companion who safely enjoys flying around your home, flying outdoors is another question entirely. You didn't mention whether you had indoor or outdoor flight in mind, so I wanted to make that disctinction very clear.

How old is your grey? I think that Lisa's WONDERFUL success with Mouse may be largely due to the fact that Mouse was very young when she began training him for outdoor flight.

Indoor flight is relatively straightforward. The key things are making your house safe for your bird, and making sure you have a very good, postive, strong relationship with your bird. Since you've already done some training, I suspect that you have a good relationship - now just do everything possible to make all of your interaction with your bird be positive and rewarding interactions, so the bird will always see you as a fun person to be around.

As Clive said, I have posted a couple of articles here at the web site about teaching recall and fly-to-perch. Read them and try them out. If you have any questions or any trouble, just let us know and we'll see what we can do.

If you want to prevent your bird from flying away.....fly him outside in an aviary. That's the safest and easiest IMHO.

Thanks.
