Jan Hus Church
351 E. 74th Street, NYC

Terri Jones of Arcadia Avian Sanctuary will speak about why birds end up in sanctuaries. She will be accompanied by six parrots from Arcadia.

She will speak about the ultimate betrayal between a parrot and his human companion -- abandonment. Parrots can live in excess of sixty years and can have over five "owners" during the course of their lives. Terri will tell us how her birds ended up in a sanctuary -- a keeper's sudden allergies, a replacement companion, not enough time or money, etc. etc.

Joining Terri will be Dr. Anthony Pilny, DVM, who will be opening up a new state-of-the art facility for avian and exotic animals in NYC, NY October 2004.

Dr. Pilny will speak about the importance of a visit to the vet, what his staff look for upon examination. He will discuss various avian illnesses and their treatment. There will be a Q&A time.

This is a free event.
