Fri, 14 May 2004 13:48:08 -0400 Cage-free parrots http://www.featherforum.com/node/view/374 This link will take you to an article at Wayne's Parrot Stuff - a maker of very cool playgyms and toys - about the yahoo cagefree parrot group.
My birds have been cagefree for years now: they're out all day on playgyms while i'm at work (yikes! unsupervised! with dogs even! lol)and sleep in roosting cages at night. i would not be able to leave them in an outdoor aviary in my urban neighborhood, and i imagine other folks have the same constraints... Mon, 10 May 2004 18:54:27 -0400 Worlds best cages http://www.featherforum.com/node/view/373 I would like to recommend the cages built by Expandable Habitats. They are expensive but the prices are very completive when compared to other quality cages companies. I have had other cages including Animal Environments cages and the Expandable Habitats cages are far superior. They only make them in 304 stainless steel and are a life time investment that appreciates in value. They are modular so you can add on to them as needed. This allows for a large cage to be assembled in any room. I have a 6’X 8’X 6’ 6” tall cage in a bedroom. The cages use an exclusive pull-through paper system that makes cleaning a snap and is economical. The shelf rests are a must in any cage. If you don’t have one in your cage I recommend them highly. The birds spend more time on them than on perches. They are perfect for play areas and to keep loose toys. Unlike powder-coated cages that need to be repainted after 5 years or sooner stainless steel still look brand new after 10 years. My cages are worth more now used than I paid for them new. Because they are modular you can make one big cage or two or more smaller cages if you get additional base units. The ship all over the world and go UPS so shipping is cheep compared to other cage shipping charges. There is always a waiting list for these so expect about an 8 week weight if you order one. If you call them ask to speak to Tricia she is one of the owners and she is the expert of experts on cages of any kind. I have become friends with her over the years and you she will tell you anything you every wonted to know about any bird cage from nuts bolts technical info to recommendations for size and type for any bird or number of birds. She can tell you what to look out for in other brands so I recommend talking to her even if you’re thinking about another brand because she won’t put any sales pressure on you. The prices are not negotiable but if you decide to spend a few thousand dollars tell Tricia I said she should throw in a couple of free toys or accessories.
