hesitant on coming out of the cage

Hello, I just got a new baby sun conure, Kiwi, who just got done being weaned. Everything is going fairly well except whenever i go to get him out of the cage, he tries to get away from me. And then once i get him out, he tries to go back to the cage after only 5 minutes of being out. He doesnt bite me or anything, i am just wondering why he is doing this and how can i get him to stop.

My poor little conure :(

Ok, so I've managed to adopt a 4 month old sun conure that the owner couldn't take care of anymore. I am a licensed vet tech, and Kiwi, my bird, came into our clinic, presenting with chronic weight loss. All of her tests came back fine, but the owner doesn't want to deal with her now, I guess. So I brought her home. It was either she come home with me or she had to be euthanized! The choice was apparent....

hi, im getting a greek cheek on the 15th may, im so excited about his imminent arrival but im not so sure he will be! i was wandering what i should do on his first day? he will be 8weeks old and has been hand reared. should i just transfer him to his new cage and leave him to observe us? or put him in his cage and leave the door open so he can come say hello if he wants. or should i ignor the cage, and let him on his perch. also how do i get him from the travelcage to his palace (what me n my boyfriend are calling his home as its huge) i dont want to towl him so he is scared of me but is that the only option? could i just put the travel cage on the table and let him creep out when he is brave enough?

i got a conure of the weekend.. and let me say i'm in love with this bird.. don't know if it's a female or male.. the bird is only 2 months old.. i also have a cocatail and love that bird too.. i bought this conure from a pets store where i got my other bird too.. my conure is very friendly and loves being out of the cage.. my question is while i'm holding my bird or it's in the cage, it fluffs this feathers and the stuff i find, says it could be a good thing or bad thing?

I have a new conure, Reba, that I got 4 days ago through a family friend. Her owner had passed away and the owner's husband did not want to take care of her anymore. She seems to be pretty smart, but isn't very sure of us yet.

Hi there, i am new to this forum and to counures. i am getting a baby conure, will i have to trim its nails often? how about ist beak? what will its poo be like? (watery or solid?) are they very messy? will i need a skirt around the cage? how are they compaired to quakers? i know about quakers, so if someone here could tell me the similarities, and differences....that would be AWSOME!

I currently own a dusky conure who is 10months old and i've had him for just over 6 months now he is very attached to my fiancee and I as well as my mother because we currently live with her. She loves him so much she wants a bird of her own. So my question is what kind of bird would get a long with the dusky? They would be in seperate cages but I was hoping they would play nice together. I was thinking a tiel cause she wants something quiet? Any suggestions on what to get? Also, should I worry about the ducky being jealous or not adapting well to a new bird? I was hoping since it hasn't been years or ne thing and hes still young that maybe it will be a smooth transition? Finally, I'll be moving out in the next two or three years following my wedding and what do I need to worry about down the line if the birds become attached and are than seperated? Thanks Amanda

weird behavior

I just recently got a new Green Cheek, but there have been some weird happenings. Firstly, the woman on that gave him to me said he was "mean", but he is sweet and very attention seeking. Secondly, he does this thing where he bends forward, and puts his tail feathers down towards the ground, making an L shape. I've never seen this before. Is this normal?

Little question about feathers

I have a GCC named Ben. Every now and again (probably once a month,) he pulls out one of his tail feathers. Not a big deal as always seems to have a good amount of them. What is weird though, is that he will become very defensive and sometimes violent over the feather. He just chews on it like any other toy, but if you try and take it from him, he gets quite upset.

Cinnimon Green Creek Concure needs love

I resetly moved to Texas ans now travel a lot. I have a 2 year old Cinnimon Green Cheek Conure with a large cage that needs a good socal home. She loves to be the center of attention and I just can't be with her as much as she would like. She has been sexed anss vacinated. I bought her from a place called Bird Crazy in San Diego Ca. I have receipts and all her toys. Asking $600.00 for it all.

There are so many different books, videos, and other forms of information pertaining to caring for a conure. It can be a bit overwhelming with so many conflicting pieces of information, and so many options for food, toys, etc. As a proud new parent of a Sun Conure, I would be very grateful if anyone would please lend some advice on what toys, foods, etc. are suitable, and any other helpful information you can lend from your own experience.

Suns chewing holes in clothes

Hello everyone and Happy New Year. I have a problem and I'm hoping someone can help me with it. I have two one year old Sun Conures Rainbow (female) and Rascal (male). They are both a lot of fun to play with. My problem is that when I have both of them on my shoulder my little girl rainbow likes to chew holes in my shirt. I heard that when they chew like that they are missing something in their diet. Can anyone tell me what it is they are missing so I can add it to their diet? Hello, i was hoping that someone here might be able to help. yesterday i went to a rather large avairy with loads of parrots etc. i saw a few jenday conures, most acting normally, but one caught me eye. his feathers on his front looked all wet, whether he'd just had a bath i dont know, he was leaning over on his front rather than sitting up straight and was rocking back and forth. he kept one wing down resting on the perch and kept flapping the other one in the air whilst screeching. i put my finger to the cage and moved it back and forth and it seemed like he was struggling to follow it, although he could see it.

Hello. Well I have had my sun conure for a couple months and he has been a wonderful sun conure. He hasn't bitten anyone, or even been angry at all, until today. I wasn't home last night, but my fiance was.. and i came back today reached right in his cage to take him out and he locked right onto my hand. Broke the skin and all. He puffed right up was waving his wings at me, trying to attack me.
