I have been breeding eclecus for the last 3 years. On every occation they lay 2 eggs but we get only one chick. We don't know the reason why we loose the second one? is it any deficiency in food?.

She's been with me for 48 hours now... she came from a great breeder at 4 1/2 months.

She is scared of me, i guess.... I havn't been able to touch her yet. Everytime my hands come close to her, while I am in her cage, she opens her beak as if to bite me. Or if I offer her a yummy treat, she attacks it instead of taking it.

I have a ten month old ekki. He seems to be molting as his black is showing thru. Is this the right age?

Also, when can I expect his Flights to grow back?

About a week ago I noticed that my Eclectus, Rio, was grinding the feathers on his back over his right shoulder. These feathers have now turned black and are shreaded. He is a nibbler and at any chance will chafe the whiskers on my face. Has anyone come across anything like this before? His main diet is PrettyBird Eclectus and he is also given fruit and veg regularly. There are also plenty of toys for him to play with. He is due at the Vets on Friday but if anyone can suggest anything I will appreciate it.

I'm curious and HAVE to know how long the "gets worse before better" period lasts for? He screams from about 7-7.30am onward....pretty much all day. If he stops screaming for even 1 minute, around 10, he comes in the shower. Then we go to the kitchen to make his food, where again, he sits there and screeches. Put him back upstairs and put his food bowl in and weave greens through the bars, leave...scream. Then he screams off and on(mostly on) until about 2-2.30pm. If he's quiet any time between that he comes downstairs on his playstand...give him about 10 mins and he's screaming again. Back up he goes.more screaming...then by about 4.30-5 it's getting dark. I usually turn the light on for another 2 hours till 7pm. This is the only time he is **usually** quiet.

We are so glad to find this site. I love reading what other eckies and their owners are up to. But we need help.

We are Eckie owners of a whole 2 months. We have hand rared our red sided boy since he was 3 weeks old. He was very affectionate, particularly to me (mum) from day one and loves playtime with both of us. He was starting to talk really well i think for his age, hello, yummo (at feed time) and was getting started on Oh cuddles.
