Goffin with attitude

I have a Goffin too. She is 2yrs old . I just bought her and she does have bite issues. Is clicker training a good way to go to correct this behavior? This is not my first bird but is my first too. I watch her body language and so don't get bit often but she tries often.

Umbrella Cockatoo loving angel at pet store, demon biting attack bird at home

Posted by rjet4u on Thu, 04/12/2007 - 23:19 :: Cockatoos
My wife and I recently purchased a 5-year-old umbrella cockatoo named Casper at a pet store. Initially, we were told that Casper did not get along with men. However, during our two visits to the pet store, Casper would come to the door of her cage and let me put my hand out without incident. Casper would then climb on my hand then up my arm then on my shoulder and just hang out. Casper would even cuddle to me. Just to make sure that Casper would get along with me, we went back to the pet store a second time and Casper responded the same way towards me, totally loving and no aggressive behaviour. My wife and I then decided to purchase Casper and bring her home.

Mistreated Cockatoo?

Posted by Charlotte Louise on Sat, 07/29/2006 - 15:50 :: Cockatoos
I don't know much about cockatoos (I own two beautiful budgies abd they're quite enough for me :)) But I wanted to ask a few questions. There is this cockatoo that lives in a house I pass as i walk up to school. I've noticed it's always in it's cage but thought that the owner possibly takes it out or plays with it when I wouldn't be aroudn to see it, as I only walk past in the morning and afternoons.

Settling in

Hi guys, im new to this web page and also to cockatoos! I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I bought a cockatoo about two or three weeks ago. I think that he has settled in quite well, but he seems very moody! Some days he doesnt want any attention at all, so i just leave him to get on with it.

A buddy for a Too?

I have a 7 year old male moluccan and I want to find him a feathered friend. He and this new friend would share the same cage. The cage is large enough to accomadate two grown macaws with room to spare, so space is not an issue.

Meeting a new Cockatoo

I will soon, within the next couple of weeks, be recieving a Lesser-sulfer Crested cockatoo--Sophie, female, 14yrs old, former breeder.

At first I won't be doing much but letting her be in her cage and get used to her new surroundings.
